Internet Marketing Clinic
Schedule
of SEO Classes
Participants should
register for the clinic on-line.
A kiosk is installed in the lobby outside
the classroom, so
it will still be possible to "show up" at
the class and get in, but registration over
the web should be much more convenient for
all.
To register for a particular session,
locate the listing for Internet Marketing
Clinic next to the date of the class (each
session is listed separately). There is a
filter function available on the page that
will help you to find the clinic listings.
Set the filter to reflect "Marketing".
Thanks for your
interest and your continuing support! |
Free Internet Marketing Clinics are offered
twice a month in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques, in the
University of Houston Small Business Development Center
at 2302 Fannin in
downtown Houston. The
objective of the clinics is to allow parties who want to promote business and other activities
over the Internet to learn the best methods and practices of Search Engine
Marketing (SEM) to become
effective at web marketing. Weekly presentations cover all
aspects of internet marketing from planning an effective site, building your
site, and optimizing your site for the search engines, to regular maintenance
and enhancement of your site to maintain the rankings that you have
achieved. Changes in the search engine marketing world are covered as they
occur. Stay up to date with the latest information!
- Learn the secrets of the most efficient marketing
tool available, the Internet!
- Meet other entrepreneurs who can help you with
cooperative marketing and sharing of tips and techniques.
- Get help with all aspects of working with the web
and software packages used to develop your site.
Many of the tools that we describe in the class can be
found here under "Useful
Reference Sites". Of particular interest is the
collection of links in a
spreadsheet that we often refer to in class, which is available
here.
More information about Internet
marketing and Internet
Marketing Tips can be found elsewhere on my site. Current information of
interest will be added to my
Internet
Marketing blog.
7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesdays
11/02/2009 01:38 PM -0500
Notice: A wireless connection is available in the classroom. Login as "uhguest"
and enter the password that will be given out in the class.
Please be sure to check this site frequently for further
information, as the situation can change any time.
An important new technique
for promoting your site consists of having subscribers set up a feed from
your site on a portal page from the major search engines. Everyone in the
class should create portal pages and pull in feeds from other class members
in order to boost the capacity of our participants to help one another with
web promotion. I have posted
instructions for
adding feed content for your convenience. Please use these instructions
to pull a feed from my
blog on Internet
Marketing. One of our class members has
contributed a short article describing how this class has helped
him with his
new
website for inventors. Another member has created a "social
networking site" for the clinic where interested members can post
information that may be of interest or use to other participants
in the clinic. The theme of the site is "Internet
Marketing Clinic", just as the clinic itself, and it is
another free resource for small business owners and operators.
Please visit the site to see how it can help you, and contribute
your own thoughts about marketing over the web! |

Some
tools
that I have had good experience with are available for sale:

A handy tool that I use for
managing
reciprocal links on my site
and on my clients' sites is Arelis, a software package available from
Axandra.
This is not "freeware", as are many of the software packages I mention
on this site, but it is software that I use personally and have found
to be a very powerful and useful aid to the tedious work of obtaining
and managing the all-important links in to my sites. It is
available for a trial period to give you an opportunity to experiment
with its functions. Although you cannot use the trial version to work
with the links on your site, you can get a good idea of the
functionality of the software and how you use it. I have some notes on
the software and on
linking
your site. |
Set this up in your My Yahoo (or other reader) to keep
up to date.

If you have a website you want to promote,
you should check out
SelfPromotion.com.
It's a resource for do-it-yourselfers where you
can learn to prepare your pages for the
search engines,
then use a sophisticated
url submission
robot to submit your webpages to all the important search
engines and directories. You'll also find tutorials about
website promotion,
submitting to yahoo,
and much more.
Best of all, you can use the site for free -- if you like it,
pay what YOU think it's worth! The guy who runs it has reinvented
tipping!
