CEO Roundtables

Operating Guidelines

Up ] Description ] [ Guidelines ] Responsibilities ]

Roundtable Participants:

  • Company must be a member of the GSWHCC.

  • Participants must be a CEO, a President, and a business owner, have bottom-line responsibility, final decision making authority, or be the resident executive.

  • Participants must be an active CEO (If position ends, member can stay on roundtable for 6 months while searching for another CEO position. Membership is at the discretion of the roundtable after the 6-month period.)

  • Participants must attend meetings regularly when in the city. (Our attendance policy is that two consecutive absences, or three absences in any six-month period, will result in automatic termination of membership.)

  • Participant is expected to participate fully in meetings and may be asked to serve as facilitator.

  • Participant must be a peer group member and not be in competition with other roundtable members.

  • Present roundtable members must approve participants unanimously.

  • Participants must agree to hold all discussions in strict confidence.

  • Participants must commit to the success of each member and establish close, intimate, mutually beneficial, trusting relationships.

  • Participants must promote diversity of business skills, education, perspective, contacts, and industries.

  • If a roundtable member changes companies, they have 90 days until the new company must join GSWHCC or they are no longer eligible to participate.

  • If a roundtable member leaves a company, they may remain in the roundtable for up to 6 months until they find a new job,

  • If a roundtable member retires, and does not go to work for a another member company, it is at the discretion of the roundtable whether they may stay in the group.

  • Sending a substitute for a participant is at the discretion of the roundtable, and must be approved in advance.

  • It is recommended, to facilitate group cohesiveness, that members meet with each other for breakfast/lunch etc. on a "one on one" basis. This accelerates getting to know one another and each other's company.

Group:

  • Roundtables are encouraged to meet at least monthly. Groups will become more productive more quickly if they meet more frequently for the first months. It is recommended they meet every two to three weeks initially.

  • Groups should find a regular meeting date, time, length etc. that does not regularly exclude a member because of a standing conflict.

  • Each roundtable operates with complete autonomy, developing its own objectives, priorities, agendas, meeting times, meeting dates, and meeting locations.

  • Non-members are allowed to attend meetings only by approval of the roundtable group.

  • Roundtables are not lead groups, their purpose is not to generate business among members, rather it is a place to share and gain management assistance.
